Maya Hanson secures suspended sentence for a defendant in indecent images case.
Maya Hanson secured a suspended sentence for a defendant charged with possessing 190,000 indecent images of children.
The Prosecution presented the offending as being of the highest culpability. The Prosecution sought to argue that there were a significant number of aggravating features present, such as the defendant’s previous convictions and the high volume of images possessed, that only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified. Owing to the persuasive mitigation presented by Maya on behalf of her client, the Court was persuaded to draw back from an immediate term of imprisonment and imposed a 12-month suspended sentence order.
Maya is regularly instructed to defend and prosecute in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth Courts. Visit her profile here.
