At Crown Chambers, our inquest team are experienced in dealing with complex cases representing interested persons at inquests. Our barristers understand the importance of these matters requiring great sensitivity as well as expert advocacy at each stage of the inquest process.
Our barristers represent a wide range of bodies and individuals, including bereaved families, NHS Trusts, local authorities, and other public bodies. Our barristers are experienced advocates who combine legal precision with empathy and professionalism.
Our barristers have experience in the following areas:
- Article 2 Inquests
- Healthcare-related deaths
- Deaths following substance misuse or suicide
- Deaths in prison, psychiatric and immigration detention
- Military deaths
Our inquest team is made up of many junior and senior barristers, including an Assistant Coroner for East Riding of Yorkshire and Kingston-Upon-Hull, Sarah Middleton, who is also Grade B Panel within the Attorney General’s Panel of Regulatory Counsel, and two highly regarded Silks, Nigel Edwards KC and Bernard Richmond KC, each of whom bring a wealth of expertise, legal acumen, and professional authority to the conduct of complex and sensitive inquests.
Many of our barristers also have experience in civil litigation, regulatory proceedings, and judicial reviews arising from or related to inquest findings. We can provide continuity of representation where cases develop into wider legal or disciplinary processes.
We accept instructions on a public and privately paying basis, and some barristers accept instructions on a pro-bono basis if appropriate. Email clerks@crown-chambers.com for further details.
