Crown Chambers first Pupillage programme in full flow

In a move which bucks the national trend for a decreasing number of Pupillages being offered, Crown Chambers is delighted to announce that our 5 pupils have started their training with us. Crown Chambers, which was established in Hull in the midst of the global pandemic in June 2020, continues to go from strength to strength and we see our new pupils as an investment in our future.

Our five Pupils have hit the ground running, working side-by-side with their experienced Supervisors on a variety of cases. Each of the five new Pupils will initially focus on either criminal or family law matters with some physically attending Court in line with the current guidance and some experiencing online hearings for the first time by way of telephone or video hearings on CVP, Skype, or Zoom. The pupils will have the benefit of spending time with each of our Pupil Supervisors to gain experience in all the areas of law we practice in and to see how each of us undertakes our work whilst maintaining our own wellbeing.

Meet the Pupils

  • Benjamin Hammersley – Originally from the Cheshire area, Benjamin has extensive work experience gained alongside and after his studies including working as a Litigation Executive and an Advocate. Benjamin is being supervised by Richard Butters in criminal law matters.
  • Jazmine Lee – Jazmine is originally from the Norfolk region and is working alongside Sarah Fearon as her supervisor in family law matters. Jazmine is passionate about justice and equality and has spent time with JUSTICE on an internship immediately prior to starting her Pupillage.
  • Sam Sharp – Sam is originally from Yorkshire and remains based here. He is working with Naomi Madderson as his supervisor in family law matters. Sam has previously volunteered for a male Domestic Violence charity and as well as provided pro-bono work for the Innocents Project at the University of Leeds. Sam previously won a pro-bono prize with BPP law for supporting 6th form pupils with mock trials.
  • Hannah Turner – Hannah is originally from Sunderland and is being supervised by David Godfrey in criminal law matters. Hannah has a significant interest in the law regarding sexual offences and has previously spent time working on criminal appeals and parole hearings prior to coming to the Bar.
  • Rebecca Wilkinson – Rebecca is a local pupil from the East Riding coast and has entered our Pupillage programme fresh from qualifying in 2020 and will work under the supervision of Gaynor Hall. Rebecca has won several awards and carried out volunteering to support the subjects she has a passion for.

The Pupils will be keeping us updated on their progress throughout their Pupillage at Crown Chambers via our social media pages and look out for their “Route to the Bar” stories coming soon.
