ABOUT MARC

Marc is an established criminal practitioner who regularly appears in Crown Courts across the North Eastern Circuit. He is primarily based in Leeds, Hull and Grimsby and is known for his  meticulous preparation and persuasive advocacy.

He completed his pupillage in 2022 and has since developed a busy and thriving practice. Marc is regularly instructed in a wide range of criminal matters, acting for both the prosecution and the defence. He is adept at handling cases of varying complexity and seriousness and is trusted to provide clear, practical advice to clients at all stages of proceedings.

Criminal Law

Marc has prosecuted offences of serious violence, serious domestic violence and abuse and class A drug supply.

Marc appears for defendants on serious RASSO offences, arson (including when life is endangered), modern slavery offences, drugs and violence cases. Marc is also instructed in a number of frauds and regularly deals with POCA proceedings for both the prosecution and defence.

 

Cases

R v H (and others) [2026], Hull Crown Court – ongoing defence of a male in multi-handed case. Allegations of sexual activity with children, paying for sexual activity and wider grooming operation. Defendant yet to be arraigned. Awaiting further defendants to be joined. S28 procedures likely.

 

R v G [2026], Bradford Crown Court – ongoing defence of an adult male accused of rape of his granddaughter. Ongoing. S28 procedure for the complainant. Trial date this year.

 

R v A / M / D [2026], Leeds Crown Court – prosecuted three defendants for their involvement in an assault on a member of door staff – all three charged with s18 and affray. Two-week trial. 2 defendants found guilty of s18, one found guilty to the alternative offence of s20. All three guilty of affray – total of 12 years’ imprisonment.

 

R v S [2025], Hull Crown Court – defending a male accused of causing serious injury whilst carelessly driving. HGV driver. Trial date set for mid-2026. Defendant entered NG plea at PTPH. Expert instructed.

 

R v S (and others) [2025], Leeds Crown Court – appeared for a defendant in a multi-handed case where all three defendants were accused of offences under the modern slavery act, PWITS and serious violence. The matter resolved on the day of the s28 hearing with a plea to PWITS only.

 

R v S [2025], Grimsby Crown Court – appeared for a defendant charged with multiple counts on indictment including grooming offences and sexual activity with a child. Two-week trial. Defendant convicted after full day of deliberations. Involved legal argument, 10,000 pages of served evidence and downloads from 7 separate devices.

 

R v S (and another) [2025], Hull Crown Court – prosecuted 2 defendants for their involvement in the supply of crack cocaine in the Hull area. One defendant pleaded guilty, the other convicted after trial. Drug expert live evidence. 5-year sentence.

 

R v X [2024], Leeds Crown Court – defended a male accused of rape of his then-girlfriend. Matter resolved on the day of trial after a successful s28 hearing – Crown offered no evidence on the rape counts with a plea to coercive and controlling behaviour being acceptable. 3-year sentence.

 

R v N [2025], Leeds Crown Court – defended a male accused of domestic offences including assaults and false imprisonment. Crown offered no evidence on the day of trial. Formal not guilty verdicts recorded.

 

R v C (and another) [2025], Leeds Crown Court – defendant a male accused of arson being reckless as to life endangered. 5-day trial. Both defendants acquitted. Involved complicated submissions on the law of joint enterprise.

 

R v S [2025], York Crown Court – ongoing defence of a privately paying male who is accused of assaulting his step-grandson. Trial date not yet reached. S28 of young complainant already completed.

 

R v W [2024], York Crown Court – defended a vulnerable male of an allegation of perverting the course of justice and related domestic allegations. Defendant entered a plea to the perverting offence on the day of trial. Acquitted on the two domestic offences. 4-year sentence.

 

R v T (and others) [2024], Grimsby Crown Court – four-handed production of cannabis case. Appeared for one of the defendants. Two-week trial. One defendant convicted after trial. Hung jury on the other three defendants having raised modern slavery defences. The Crown offered no evidence a week before the retrial. Defendant acquitted.

 

R v L [2024], Grimsby Crown Court – prosecution of a male accused of domestic assaults against his then-partner. Defendant convicted after a 3-day trial. Immediate custodial sentence imposed.

 

R v L [2023], Hull Crown Court – successful defence of an 18-year-old male accused of arson (reckless as to life endangered) and 10 other offences. Domestic. Defendant acquitted on all counts after a 6-day trial and 2 hours of deliberations.
