ABOUT FINTAN

Employment Law

Fintan represents both claimants and respondents in final hearings, preliminary hearings, and judicial mediations. He has experience in a variety of employment claims including unfair dismissal, contractual claims, discrimination and whistleblowing cases. Fintan also accepts instructions for advisory work and has experience drafting pleadings and case management documents.

 

Examples of Fintan’s work include:

Acting pro-bono to assist an ex-employee obtain a £30,000 settlement following an alleged whistleblowing detriment

Advising and drafting on a claim for harassment, discrimination, and automatic unfair dismissal.

 

Civil Law

Fintan is regularly instructed for claims on the Small Claims Track including RTA’s, credit hire claims, and secret commission cases. Fintan also has a growing fast track practice with a particular interest in matters relating to claims under the Equality Act 2010 and breach of contract claims.

 

Family Law

Fintan accepts instructions in all areas of family law including public, private and financial remedies. In public child law Fintan has been instructed to represent local authorities and parents at all stages of proceedings. His compassionate approach ensures that clients feel at ease when discussing sensitive information. Fintan also has experience in dealing with complex private law cases which involve allegations of parental alienation and domestic abuse.

 

Examples of Fintan’s work include:

Acting for the applicant, Fintan successfully appealed the court’s decision to conclude that the respondent lacked capacity to understand the terms of a non-molestation order and the decision to dismiss the application.

Fintan represented the applicant father in contempt of court proceedings.

Fintan represented a father who faced allegations of harm to the children, physical abuse, and rape in a three-day fact-find.

 

Criminal Law

Fintan is a Grade 2 prosecutor and regularly appears in the Crown Court to both prosecute and defend. Fintan is also regularly instructed to both prosecute and defend private prosecutions in the magistrate’s court including claims under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
