ABOUT ANDREW

Andrew joined Crown Chambers in November 2024 as a Pupil Barrister, under the supervision of his Pupil Supervisor Francesca Steels. Prior to the commencement of pupillage, Andrew spent nearly two years working for Hull City Council as both a Claims Officer and Tenancy Officer.

As a Claims Officer, Andrew was responsible for handling his own caseload regarding defending housing disrepair claims and personal injury claims brought by tenants against the Council. Andrew has worked as a Legal Advisor for several organisations including The University of Hull Students’ Union Advice Centre, Hull Citizens Advice Bureau, and Hull Legal Advice Centre.

At the age of 19, Andrew became the guardian of his 8-year-old sibling. During Andrew’s second year of his law degree, he identified a maladministration regarding social services failing to increase special guardianship allowances after each birthday. Andrew successfully challenged the procedure resulting in backdated payments totalling £329,442.52 being made to 195 affected children. His achievement was published, and Andrew received a full tuition fee scholarship from his Inn.

In his personal life, Andrew likes going to the gym, attending festivals, traveling and walking his dog called Zeus.
